Well, I promised to have a pic posted of my wonderful sock. I didn't have time to get to my In-Law's today to use their digi camera! UGH! I hate not having my own stinkin camera! I will DEFINATELY be over there tomorrow and I will get a pic up even if it kills me!
I stopped by Kmart today and noticed they had a sale going on in the purse section. FYI, I can not walk past a purse section. It's not in me to do it. I think it goes back to my Mom. She has always had a ton of purses. While I am super picky.....I just can't not stop to look! Anyway, they had some really cute beach totes. I found a great blue one with a zippered pocket inside and a connected, matching zippered pouch. It was just over $10! How could I resist? It's nice and roomy!
I must let you all know that I won a battle today. I LONGED to bid on some lovely yarn today, I have been watching it all week. It's a mohair/alpaca/cotton blend with some sparkly nylon in it. Oi. I didn't bid! I have already won 2 auctions. Darn eBay, it is a joy and a pain! But....I did get that great new tote bag! So the day wasn't a total loss!
I was hoping to come home to find my Big Girl Knits sitting on the front porch but no. Drat! Maybe tomorrow! Happy Knitting!

Exciting Times People!
Hey all! Lots going on lately, really, I mean it this time! I am extremely happy to report that I have finished my first sock! That's right, I HAVE FINISHED MY FIRST SOCK! I am extremely proud of myself! Especially since I finished it up all by my lonesome. Well, Lesa aka Yarn Goddess did help me on my way quite a bit! The sock was made with some acrylic yarn that the Yarn Goddess gave me so I don't think I'll be making a mate for it. I've decided to frame it in a shadow box! Aren't I a dork! Yes, I know! But won't that be cute! I'll fame it after I've shown every stinkin person I know! LOL
In other knitting news, I just recieved my yarn from Fearless Fibers. It is fantastic, so beautifully dyed and soft! I will be using it to make the beaded shawl in the Big Girl Knits book. I also just won some really pretty sock yarn from Fearless Fibers! It is being shipped out this morning so I know it will be here lickety split. If you haven't checked out the little eBay store.....go now! She's got some great stuff at really nice prices! You can come back and read this later. Go, get, go on!
Oh! you're back! Did you find anything you can't live without? I do have to say, eBay is addicting. Mix knitting AND eBay, watch out people! There are 2 more auctions I have my eye on. I know I probably shouldn't but you know I will! TeeHee I just wish my BGK book would get here so I can look for yarn to do some of my projects with.
On the BGK yahoo group someone posted a link to some cafepress knitting t-shirt logos and whatnot. The have a lot! Go check them out! That's if for now gang! I'm gonna get a pic of my sock up tonight! I promise! Happy Knitting & Happy eBaying!

Did I mention I am a Sock Diva!
Okay, maybe not a Sock Diva but boy! aren't those little things addicting! I've been working on my sock like a mad woman and I made it through the heel turn and past the gussets! Now I'm working down the foot and will most likely be finishing it up tonight or tomorrow! Yeehaaah! I will post a pic as soon as I can. (Note to Self: Get a new stinking digi camera!) I'd like to thank the Academy, The Gods, and most of all the Yarn Goddess herself, Lesa! I'm that proud of this thing people! I show it to EVERYONE, no kidding, ask my co-workers. They, of course, Ooooo and Ahhhh over it but I'm sure when I've walked away they think "My gosh, it's just a sock!" They have nooo clue kids! I'm on a knitting high baby!
In other news, I have won my first yarn auction on eBay! I am quite pleased! Um, it's a 50/50 blend of alpaca and wool. ALPACA, I love that stuff. Anyone wanna trade some of that for a massage or two you just let me know. The stuff smells like....well heaven, okay it doesn't really smell like anything but well...yarn!
I also ordered my copy of Big Girl Knits this morning along with a couple of Jane Austen classics.....Sense & Sensibility and Emma. I am really in love with these movies and the books are almost always better. And it's always fun to gab with the Yarn Goddess about these books!
The kids have their first swim lesson tomorrow at Duneland Health & Wellness Institute. We are all very excited. We got them each a pair of goggles today and they just got out of the bath with them....ya know, the HAD to test them out! LOL We also got them new swimsuits for this season. Leslie got to try a few on in the fitting room and she thought that was the coolest. You'd think she'd never seen herself in a mirror before! Silly little Loufer! That's about it folks! I'm now going to try to keep myself from ordering anything off of KnitPicks! Wish me luck! Happy Knitting!

Hump Day
Hehehe, I just like that title! Anyway! It's been a while since I've posted. I know you are all hanging on the edge of you seat wondering when oh when will I post. Be still, I am here! I've been working on my sock again. I was waiting for a get-together with Lesa so she could show me what comes next (Turning the heel & Gussets). But I got tired of waiting for our schedules to synch up and I am boldly going where most all knitters have gone before! I had made it through the heel turn and joined my sock back into the round but it wasn't right. So I frogged back and started over with my heel flap. So I'm back down to turning the heel. It's quite fun learning and doing something new!
I got a little more work done on my baby blanket for Alaina and my HP scarf for Davey. But I have to say, working on that little sock is addicting! If I'm not working on it I'm thinking about working on it! I have been reading too. My "Stitch N Bitch" book and "Dates from Hell". A book with short stories in from some of my favorite authors....Kelley Armstrong and Kim Harrison.
The Big Girl Knits Yahoo group that Lesa started is going well, with 109 members in only a week! I have yet to even order my copy of the book, damn bills! What's a girl to do? Pay them I reckon! So that's about it for now folks! Happy Knitting!

Sock It To Me!
Hey there people! So much going on, so little time! Nah, not really but it sounds good! Actually I am a little busy with my knitting and reading. Sometimes it's hard to choose! Wish I could knit and read! Work on my Harry Potter scarf has slowed down a little because I was working on learning how to use my DPNs, see "I rock....a Tale of DPNs". I have now mastered them or at least I can use them pretty well after about a week! I've started work on my very first sock. That's right, I am making a sock! I don't understand why people say things like "I'm afraid to use DPNs" or "I'm afraid to try making socks". What will happen, they don't do it right, they have to frog it? Big whoop. Practice makes perfect people! And believe me, I had to cast on this sock 3 times before I got it going. Ribbing isn't my strong suit just yet! But hey, I can now cast onto DPNs no problem. So lighten up people, needles don't bite, poke yes but that's another topic!
Lesa and I had a great day out this past Saturday! I went to her house to give her a massage and after she helped me start my sock. Then we picked up and headed out to South Bend to do some browsing and drooling of that new book "Big Girl Knits". We had a blast. I have fallen in LOVE with almost all the patterns in that book. I told Lesa it would be so great if there were a group where people could post pics of there finished projects, talk about substituting yarns, ect. Lesa has created that group and she and I are opperating it together! Yay Lesa! You can join by clicking the button on the side of this page somewhere.
I am gonna order my copy of the book this weekend and will then have to decide what yarn I would like to use to make a combo of the 2 long sweater coats in the book. I don't know both names, one of them is called the Natalie Coat. It's wonderful! In the book it is made with Tahki Donegal Tweed Homespun, from what I've found that would be roughly $131 to make using that yarn! So I have been looking around for something to substitute with. So far I have found 2 nice yarns on
KnitPicks. My first choice is Andean
Silk, it's a wonderful blend of super fine alpaca, silk, and merino wool. It's $3.29 a ball. It would bring my yarn costs to a total of roughly $78. Then there is Wool of the Andes, it's 100% Peruvian Highland Wool. It costs $1.79 a ball and would bring my total yarn costs to roughly $42!!!! So I don't know what I'm gonna use yet. God knows I love alpaca! Okay, that's it for now folks! Happy knitting!
